Sponsored by Realscreen magazine, the awards are open to any nonfiction programs that aired during calendar year 2012. There are categories for entire series as well as for one-off programs. The deadline for entry submissions is 5 p.m. Eastern time, Feb. 8, 2013. Note that an entry fee is involved: $325 for submissions received before Jan. 11 and $425 for submissions received after that. The awards ceremony will be held June 5, 2013, in Santa Monica, Calif.
Though cable television has racked many wins in Realscreen Awards past, pubTV has not gone unnoticed. PBS has won one award in the past two years: America in Primetime received the 2012 award for Best Nonfiction Archive Programming. More information about the awards can be found on Realscreen’s website.
