The next Knight News Challenge is looking for innovations in community health reporting.

The Knight Foundation is partnering with several philanthropic organizations, including the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Clinton Health Matters Initiative, to attempt to find new ways “to harness data and public information for the health of our communities,” according to its website. The first phase of the project, the “inspiration phase,” will commence Aug. 19, soliciting comments from journalists, health-care entrepreneurs and community residents in a giant brainstorming session. It will then open the playing field for submissions Sept. 3–17, with more than $2 million available in total funding to share among winning proposals. Learn more about the challenge and start thinking healthy.
