For its new digital media challenge, Looking@Democracy, the foundation is embarking on a national search for “short, provocative media submissions” that focus on the role of government in our lives. The project is a joint operation between the foundation and the Illinois Humanities Council. The first-prize winner will receive $25,000, with the remainder of the $100,000 pot distributed to runners-up. Criteria for acceptable submissions is deliberately vague, but the foundation encourages independent media makers, investigative journalists, artists and others to submit. Deadline is April 30, 3 p.m. Eastern time.
