The Independent Television Service will offer grants to stations for screening ‘Half The Sky.’

To promote community involvement around the Independent Lens episode Half The Sky, ITVS will award up to $2,000 to stations for community events and screenings centered on the film, which investigates the oppression of women on a global scale and how to address it. Half The Sky is a cornerstone for ITVS’s Women and Girls Lead campaign, and the organization’s community engagement “mini-grants” are intended to further the initiative’s outreach. As part of the grant requirements, stations must promote the program “using all appropriate vehicles.” The soft deadline for grant proposals is Sept. 15, but ITVS says it will continue to hand out funds until all grants are distributed.
