The Fund for Investigative Journalism is accepting grant proposals.

FIJ awards grants for investigative projects and books three to four times per year. The next deadline is Dec. 10. Grants average $5,000 and are for covering out-of-pocket expenses; the first half is presented immediately, while the second half is withheld until evidence of publication of the proposed project. FIJ particularly invites projects related to government accountability, climate change, economic inequality and important local or regional issues, as well as proposals from ethnic media. More information on applying can be found here.
