The eleven-week, mostly webinar-based training sessions are part of NPR Digital Services’s effort to help transition member stations into the digital age. They will cover social media, visual storytelling, digital literacy and strategy, and writing for the Web. The sessions, which will operate in three groups, will open with three-day in-person leadership conferences partly paid for by a grant from the Knight Foundation. Two of these conferences will be held at NPR headquarters in Washington, D.C., Jan. 9–11 and May 20–22, with a third to be held at NPR West’s headquarters in Culver City, Calif., March 20–22. Applications for the programs, intended to be filled out by station leadership, are due Nov. 15, and interested applicants should be prepared to demonstrate “a commitment to digital.”
