The Los Angeles–based pubradio station, with help from sponsors Public Radio Exchange and SoundCloud, is seeking producers of all experience levels to compete from anywhere in the world. The race will take place entirely online and will require contestants to write, record and edit a nonfiction radio piece of up to six minutes in length based on a theme, which KCRW will email to marathoners. For extra fun, KCRW will also email a bonus element to contestants 12 hours before the deadline, which can be incorporated for extra points. Fee to enter the contest is $10.
The 24-Hour Radio Race will take place Aug. 17, with a winning prize package that includes a slot for the piece on UnFictional and $1,000 in cash. Deadline to enter is the day before. More information on the race can be found here. Interested parties are advised to begin their training regimen now.
