Apply to get your startup funded by Matter, the new public-media–backed accelerator.

Funded by grants from the Knight Foundation and San Francisco’s KQED, with institutional support from Public Radio Exchange, Matter is investing $50,000 in its first round of five startups with an intensive development program that begins in late February. Participants will work elbow-to-elbow out of Matter’s San Francisco offices and will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas to prominent potential investors at the end of the accelerator period. Media startup pitches need not be related to public media. Applications are due Jan. 6, 2013; information sessions are also being held this week in Boston, New York, San Francisco and online. Visit Matter’s website to sign up for these sessions and to apply.
