The Association of Public Television Stations seeks a Vice President of Finance and Administration to manage the financial affairs of the association and oversee the day-to-day management of operations. The person will be responsible for establishing and managing budgets, the preparation of interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules, financial analyses of operations, and investment supervision. This position will ensure the continuing innovation of finance operations and procedures through evaluation of industry best- practices and technology. This person will also maintain financial books and records of the association so that they meet the highest standards of financial integrity and generally accepted accounting principles, yet are fully accessible by management to improve cost-center and association management control. The position will report directly to the President and CEO. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA certification, MBA preferred. Five to ten years’ accounting experience and five years’ experience in a managerial role of an accounting department/staff, preferably as Controller or Assistant Controller. WFCR-FM, public radio for western New England, licensed to the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, seeks a Director of Development & Major Gifts to lead the fundraising efforts of one of the nation’s most successful mid-market public radio stations. The WFCR Director of Development is responsible for the development efforts that raise over $3.1 million in annual support from individuals and businesses through personal solicitations, direct mail, telemarketing, on-air and online fundraising, underwriting and special events. The Director will focus substantial effort on WFCR’s major-giving program and is responsible for coordinating and conducting all aspects of WFCR’s $4.3 million capital campaign. The Director is also responsible for ensuring the production of the major communications and public relations pieces for WFCR and for overseeing the outreach and marketing efforts of the station. The successful candidate will be an innovative, self-motivated leader and accomplished fundraising professional with an excellent track record of leadership in major gifts and/or capital campaigns and substantial experience managing and directing the staff of a development program. The individual will have superior communication skills: verbal, written and presentation; and must be adept at building and maintaining strong donor relationships. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree plus 7 years’ experience in development for nonprofits or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Public broadcasting experience is preferred. Demonstrated experience in major-giving and/or capital campaigns, communications and/or public relations and at least four of the following areas: planned giving, on-air fundraising, direct mail, personal solicitations, corporate/foundation solicitation, special events, outreach and marketing. Demonstrated fiscal management and supervisory experience. Proficiency required in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Applicant must demonstrate a record of success through increased corporate support, foundation support, annual giving by individuals, planned gifts, and government grants.
