Membership Director
WTMD, Baltimore
Towson University is seeking a Membership Director for WTMD, its listener-supported, locally owned public radio station. The successful candidate should be well versed in all aspects of individual giving and relationship building to ensure that more first time contributors are attracted to the station and members’ experiences with the station are maximized. Responsibilities: Organize and execute listener-based fundraising efforts, including but not limited to on-air fund drives and directmail campaigns; work with programming and development departments to create events and promotions that enhance the station’s identity and revenue; supervise onsite presence at venues and concerts; track relationships with major donors and work with TU Foundation to process incoming donations. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree; three years of related experience, preferably in public radio; and MS Office, Internet, and presentation proficiency. Prefer experience with membership software packages. Business and music industry contacts a plus. Most important is a passion for independent radio and great music in Baltimore. Requirements include an Associate’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science with emphasis on TV technology; five years experience in broadcasting or computer support in a supervisory or administrative capacity with budget responsibility; extensive knowledge in several professional disciplines and the ability to integrate information from many diverse areas; strong interpersonal, writing, spelling and grammar skills; ability to summarize, tabulate, or formulate data/information; ability to present information accurately and effectively; and knowledge of computers, peripherals, and software programs such as Word and Excel.
