How to place a job ad in Current

1. Download the order form. We need your signed insertion order before we run an ad. Download This Insertion Order and fax it back to us at 877-745-8776 or email it to unwincurrent.org.

Your ad appears online starting the next business day and in the next available print edition of Current. Online ads are sold only with ads in the print edition. Your ad will remain online on the jobs page until you fill the job or for up to 6 weeks, whichever comes first. The older ads will also be archived online, organized by print publication date.

2. For your print-edition ad, select either a regular in-line text classified or a boxed classified ad with your logo or other graphics.

Regular classifieds are sold by the word at $1.15 a word, $30 minimum. No need to use odd abbreviations, as the price is the same for "brdbd" or "broadband." To get a very close approximation of the cost, use Microsoft Word to count the words. Be sure to include a heading, which includes only: the job title(s), organization name, city and state. All text is one size. No special typography, bullets, logos or paragraph breaks. However, if you wish to combine several job notices in one ad, you can avoid duplicating some of the standard boilerplate text, and we'll boldface your job titles within the ad.

Boxed classifieds are sold by the column inch. The rate is $50 per column-inch*.(Note the new reduced rate!) These ads give you more graphic flexibility. They will help you stand out--grabbing the attention of active job seekers as well as other public media pros who may move for the right opportunity. *A column inch is one column wide (2.4 inches) by one inch deep. A typical quarter page ad is 13.5 column inches.
Position-wanted "blind box" ads are regular classifieds. They're handy if you don't want to reveal your name and address. Responses come to Current's office and we will relay them to you. Surcharge: $20 in addition to applicable charges above.

Ad agency discounts do not apply.

3. Prepare and send your ad.

Preparing regular classifieds. Submit in an e-mail or a Microsoft Word-compatible attachment. (In a pinch, use fax, 877-745-8776.) Specify issue date(s) and give your phone number. If you need a precise word count to figure out your bill, ask us to call you with it.

Preparing boxed classifieds. The price is the same, whether you:

Have your designer prepare camera-ready copy. Submit a high-resolution PDF by e-mail or trackable express carrier. Can include any black-and-white graphics, such as logos and photos. Artwork must be surrounded by a box exactly 14.5 picas wide for a 1 col. ad, 30 picas wide for 2 column, 45.5 picas for 3 col. ad.
Ask us to prepare the ad. Decide what you want it to look like. Tell us what typefaces you like. Give us a range of size. If you want a logo or other artwork, send a high-resolution image (jpeg preferred) by e-mail. And send the text by e-mail. We will send you a PDF proof by e-mail for your approval.

4. Payment

Give us your Visa, MasterCard or American Express information on the insertion order. Or, if the charge is $100 or more, we can send you a bill. State your purchase order number, if you have one.

Current mails invoices with tearsheets of your ad within a week after publishing a classified ad.

Payment is due within a month: net 30 days.

Please note: Invoices reflect net rates; agency discounts do not apply. We reserve the right to hold advertisers and/or their ad agencies liable for payments due.

Canceling an ad

If the ad has been posted online before you ask to cancel it, you will be billed in full.
